Blew out my earlobe with a too-small taper last weekend

I was stretching my left ear from 6g to 4g on Saturday night. Thought I could save time by skipping the 2 weeks of waiting and just force it through. Ended up with a nasty blowout that's still red and angry on Wednesday. Any tips for healing a blowout this fresh without losing too much progress?

Nah man, you don't get to say "skip the 2 weeks of waiting" like that's just some optional suggestion. That wait time isn't just an arbitrary rule. It's there because your body literally needs to build up new tissue cells so your ear doesn't tear open. The fact that you forced a 4g taper into a hole that wasn't ready is exactly why you're dealing with a blowout now. You can't rush healing either. If you downsize back to 6g and treat it like an open wound for the next 3-4 months, you'll keep most of your progress. But if you try to save time again by leaving the 4g in or upsizing too fast, you'll end up with scar tissue and a mangled lobe that won't stretch well ever again.

Wait hold on, you said 3-4 months? I had to read that twice because I thought I misread it. You really mean almost a third of a year for a single stretch to heal right? I mean I get that blowouts are serious but that feels like an eternity. I guess if you want your lobes to not look like chewed up gum it makes sense though.
