Rented a tile saw instead of buying a $40 manual cutter - huge waste of time

I was retiling my kitchen backsplash last month and thought renting a wet saw from Home Depot for $65 a day would be smarter than a cheap manual cutter. Wrong. The setup took 45 minutes, the blade was dull, and I spent more time cleaning up slurry than actually cutting. My buddy loaned me a $40 manual snap cutter the next day and I finished the whole job in 3 hours. Has anyone else had better luck with the cheap tools over the fancy rentals?

Wait manual cutters actually cost that much? I thought they were more like $60-80 for a decent one.

Whoa yeah no the well-made ones are way more. The cheap ones just can't handle thicker materials and fall apart in a year.
