My roommate called me out for using hot water with Dawn and now I rinse cold
She said heat activates the degreaser but cold seals the scent so I tried it and my hands don't smell like lemon cleaner for hours after, anyone else switch their rinse temp?

I used to be all about hot water for everything... thought the heat was the only way to get things really clean. But then a friend told me the same thing about cold water for the final rinse and I tried it with my dish soap and wow my hands don't have that weird soapy smell anymore. It feels weird at first but the scent really does fade way faster with cold water, I'm surprised it works so well.

Drives me CRAZY how many people think hot water is the ONLY way to get things clean. It's like everyone just assumes heat equals clean and never questions it. Same thing with laundry actually, people crank up the temperature on their washer and then wonder why their clothes shrink or colors fade. Cold water works just as well for most stuff and saves a ton on your energy bill too. It's honestly wild how many "common knowledge" things are just habits nobody bothers to test for themselves. Good on you for giving the cold rinse a real chance instead of just sticking with what everyone says.

Man, is it really that deep though? I mean yeah hot water has its place but it's not like the whole world is brainwashed or something. People use hot water because their grandma did and it worked fine for her, so they don't think about it. I get what you're saying about habits but I think labeling it as "crazy" is a bit much. It's just water temp, not a conspiracy.
