My attempt at a 'workation' in a Bali treehouse went sideways

I booked a week in a bamboo treehouse near Ubud, thinking the jungle view would boost my productivity, but the wifi cut out every time it rained which was three times a day. I ended up taking client calls from a warung down the road, balancing my laptop next to a plate of nasi goreng. Anyone have a go-to method for testing internet reliability before you book a place?

Honestly I read about a guy who asks hosts for a screenshot of a speed test from inside the actual room.

Consider how that request from @thomas.tyler could backfire if the host just runs the test right next to their own router. You might get a number that doesn't match the real room's dead zone. In my experience, you're better off checking reviews for past guests who mention streaming or video calls.

I used to think that was overkill but now I totally get why you'd ask for that.
