Spent 4 hours tweaking brush settings in Procreate and still got the same result as default

I was trying to get a textured watercolor effect for a commission piece and kept adjusting the grain, scatter, and opacity settings for what felt like forever. After 4 hours of messing around, I reset everything to default and the original brush gave me exactly what I needed. Has anyone else wasted a whole evening chasing settings that were fine from the start?

Brings to mind that time I spent an hour trying to replicate a pencil texture in Procreate before realizing the 6B pencil brush was already perfect. Sometimes the best stuff is just sitting right there waiting for you to stop overthinking it.

Ha, my buddy did this with Photoshop filters once!

Yeah I tried the Photoshop filter route once and just ended up with a picture that looked like a wet newspaper. Figured out pretty quick that the real stuff takes actual effort, not just clicking a button. At least your buddy probably got something that didn't look like garbage.
