I finally stopped pretending fancy restaurants are better for first dates

After dropping $180 at a place in Boise where the waiter sniffed my wine and the table wobbled anyway, I realized the best first date I ever had was splitting a $9 footlong on a tailgate, so why are we all acting like overpriced ambiance equals chemistry, has anyone else found that cheap food weeds out the snobs faster?
