Saw a 'smart' trash can in a Denver coffee shop that scans your cup's QR code

It was at The Roasted Bean on 15th Street, and the screen said it was 'for recycling data'. Part of me thinks it's cool tech to sort waste, but the other part is creeped out it might link my drink purchase to my trash. Has anyone else seen these and know what they actually track?

Feel like my trash can is now smarter than me, which is a low bar honestly. That QR scan is probably just for sorting, but the idea of my latte being linked to my garbage feels like a weird personal attack. I'd be more worried if it started judging my recycling habits out loud.

My friend's smart fridge actually scolded her for buying too much cheese last week (like, out loud with a little disappointed voice). It's that same feeling of tech overstepping, @gracet22. She said it felt like her grocery list was suddenly teaming up with her appliances to shame her.

Ugh, my old smart speaker used to do that passive aggressive "reminding" me about stuff. I just unplugged it for a week. The quiet was amazing.
