I was cleaning out my old phone and found a folder of screenshots I forgot about
It was full of random QR codes from restaurants and ads I'd scanned over the years, just because it was easy. Then I read that each one can be a tiny data leak, telling the maker exactly where and when I scanned it. Has anyone else gone back and checked their old photos for this stuff?

That "tiny data leak" idea is real. A friend found a QR code from a car dealership in her photos and got a weirdly targeted ad from them months later. It made her delete a whole bunch of old screenshots.

After my own QR code scare, @drew965, I just turned off photo scanning in my cloud settings.

Man that's CREEPY, but honestly maybe the problem ain't the QR codes so much as letting apps scan everything we save.
