I finally went to that new 'smart' coffee shop downtown and the payment screen asked for my birthday.
It was a simple $4 latte, but the tablet wanted my full name, email, and date of birth just to use their app for a discount. I walked out and got coffee elsewhere. Are we just supposed to give up basic info for a 10% off coupon now?
