Chat with my grandpa made me rethink old gadgets
Honestly, my grandpa told me last week that his 1980s hand mixer still whips better than my $90 KitchenAid. It hit different because he's right - I just toss stuff when it breaks instead of fixing it. Anyone else feel like older stuff was built to last?

That 1980s hand mixer whips better than your KitchenAid" is exactly the kind of thing that makes me stop and think... I've learned the hard way that sometimes the old stuff just works better because they didn't cut corners on materials back then. If you've got a busted gadget you're about to toss, try looking up a repair guide or hitting up a local electronics shop before giving up on it.

You're right, @wyattrobinson. An old motor is usually built better and easier to fix.
