Heard a guy at the laundromat on Pine drop a "your mom" joke to a stranger, and it got ugly fast
Last Tuesday I was folding clothes at the laundromat on Pine Street when this guy next to me told a stranger his "your mom" joke about the dryer eating socks. The stranger just stared at him for about 10 seconds and said his mom passed away last month, then walked out leaving half his stuff in the machine. The guy tried to laugh it off but the whole room went dead quiet, maybe 6 of us just watching the spin cycle like it was TV. That line between funny and mean is way thinner than people think, and you can't see it until you're already past it. What's the worst case you have seen of a joke bombing in public, and did the person try to fix it or make it worse?
Reminds me of my cousin's wedding when his best man did a whole roast about the bride's cooking and her dad just sat there stone faced the entire time. Guy kept going thinking the silence meant he was killing it, made it so much worse. Pretty sure that marriage is still weird with the in laws like 8 years later.
