Hot take: Skipping 2-factor on my email was a bad call

I relied on a strong password and didn't set up the extra login step. After a site I used got hacked, my email got taken over and it was a nightmare to fix. What's your go-to way to remember to use 2-factor without it slowing you down?

Last year I forgot my own 2FA codes more than any hacker tried.

Feels like we're all our own worst security threats sometimes.

How long did it take to get your email back? That sounds like a real mess. I get where @clairejenkins is coming from, forgetting codes is almost a bigger hassle than setting them up. My trick is to use an auth app on my phone that gives push notifications, so it's just a tap. It's faster than typing a password half the time. You just have to stick with it until it feels normal.
