Had a customer today who insisted our return policy was 'illegal' because they missed the 30 day window.

They yelled at me for fifteen minutes straight, saying I was personally stealing from them. It hit different because my manager backed me up for once and told them to leave. Anyone else had a boss actually stand their ground?

Oh man, that's HUGE! My old manager would have folded and given them a gift card just to shut them up. Having a boss actually stand there and tell a customer to leave is a total game changer. It makes you feel like they actually see the crazy stuff you deal with. I get what @xena_lopez is saying about it not fixing everything, but in that moment it sure makes the job feel less awful. That kind of backup is what keeps people from just walking out.

Was your manager just as shocked as you were? Mine finally stepped in last month and it felt so good to be backed up for once...

Sometimes managers just act surprised to seem like they care, @kim191. It might not mean they'll actually change anything. Getting backed up feels good but doesn't always fix the real problem.
