Back when I started retail I thought those 'price check' calls were just noise, now I get why they matter

I used to roll my eyes every time a manager called for a price check on something obvious, but last week a customer in Cleveland argued a $5 shirt should be $3 because 'the tag looked faded' and I finally saw the light. Has anyone else had a moment where a longtime annoyance suddenly made perfect sense?

Oh man, the faded tag scam is real. But honestly, price checks help catch actual mismarks that screw with inventory. Your mileage may vary but I've seen those save more time than they waste.

Stick with the price checks. They catch the weird glitches before someone screams at the register. Saves everyone a headache in the long run.

Yeah but price checks just give customers more reason to argue with you.
