I dropped $80 on a writing prompt generator app and it was a total bust

I'm a sucker for writing prompts but I hit a wall last month where nothing felt fresh. So I got this app that claimed to use some algorithm to make unique story ideas. Cost me $80 for a year subscription. The prompts were all super vague like "a character finds something" with zero detail. Felt like a bot just shuffled random keywords together. I got better ideas from free subreddits in five minutes. Did anyone else waste cash on a prompt tool that let you down? What actually works for you when you need a spark?

Scrolled past one of those ads the other day and almost clicked buy. Glad I didn't. I make my own prompts now by flipping through old news headlines from like 1950 and asking "what if someone lied about this." That or I just steal a weird sentence from a Wikipedia article about plants. Free and way more interesting than "a character finds a door.

my buddy dropped like $60 on one of those and all the prompts were just "a letter arrives" or "somebody knocks on a door." he showed me his phone and i was like dude you just paid for a thesaurus that hates you lol.
