A client's simple question made me rethink 30 years of coloring
Last Thursday, a regular in her 60s asked why I still use foils when she saw me using a brush and bowl on another client. I explained balayage was faster and softer, but she said she liked the stripes because they felt honest, like she knew what she was paying for. It hit me that I've been chasing trends without asking if they actually serve the person in the chair. Now I'm wondering if other stylists have had a moment where a client made them question their own habits, and how did you handle it?

Client asked me once if my foils were leftovers from a 1980s craft project, fair point honestly.
