Just realized I disagree with the whole 'never go to bed angry' advice after my friend's 3 AM fight with her husband.
I think sometimes you need to sleep on it because arguing when you're both tired and upset just makes things worse, so what's a better piece of relationship advice you've heard?

My cousin's therapist told her to fight sitting down.

That therapist sounds like they really get it. There's something about physically lowering yourself into a seated position that takes the edge off a fight. It's a simple trick but it totally changes the whole energy of a hard conversation.

That "sleep on it" thing is so true. My husband and I have a hard stop at 10 PM for any argument. @julia_carter70's cousin's therapist was onto something with fighting sitting down. We take it further and have to be under a blanket on the couch. It sounds silly, but it forces a slower, quieter talk. You can't really storm off when you're tangled up in a comforter.
