Dropped $400 on a language app for 6 months, my Duolingo owl is laughing at me
Ngl, I paid $400 for a fancy language learning program last January because I wanted to be fluent in Japanese by summer. Turns out the app just showed me flashy videos and quizzes, but I couldn't hold a convo with a real person. I spent 3 months doing lessons while commuting, but my grammar was still trash when I tried to order food at a Tokyo spot last week. How do you guys actually learn a language without burning cash? Has anyone else fallen for those polished apps?
