Warning: I watched 2 crews pour the same 40x60 slab in Waco and the difference was night and day
One crew used a laser screed and had the whole thing floated in about 90 minutes, the other crew was still dragging a straightedge around at hour 3. The screed crew pulled their forms the next morning with almost no honeycomb, while the hand crew had a low spot near the drain that held water for 2 days. I know not every job can justify the rental, but after seeing that I'm saving up for one. Has anyone run a laser screed on smaller residential stuff or is it just not worth it under 1,000 sq ft?
Man, we rented one for a 30x40 shop pour last spring and it paid for itself in labor alone. Under 1,000 sq ft it's a tougher call, but if your guys are slow finishers it still beats fighting a low spot at the drain.
