Talked to a 30-year finisher in Denver who made me rethink my whole approach to control joints

He watched me cutting joints with a saw and just said 'why are you making dust when you could put a trowel to it while it's wet?' Tried wet jointing on my next driveway pour and the finish came out way cleaner with less cracking. Anybody else switch methods and stick with it?

Man, that wet jointing tip from the old timer really hit me hard too.

Is it really that much better though, @william_jackson65? I tried it once and ended up with a mess that took twice as long to clean up. Water just makes the compound slide around before it sets, so you're fighting gravity the whole time. Plus, if your tape isn't perfectly pressed in, you get bubbles that show up after it dries. Idk, maybe the old timer was working with way different materials back then.

@the_margaret did you use a groover or straight trowel on that wet joint?
