Spent 9 hours chasing a soft spot on a 40x60 slab in Amarillo, ended up being one bag of bad cement
Kept telling myself it was a trowel issue or the mix was too wet that morning, so I reworked the finish twice and still had a spongy patch. Turned out one bag from a pallet that sat on the truck in the heat all week set up wrong in the middle of the pour. Anybody else had a supplier sneak you old stock without saying anything?
Did a ready mix guy ever tell you about the slump test trick? I heard on a podcast that some drivers will add water to a load that's been sitting and then it sets soft in spots just like that. Makes you wonder how long that pallet sat before it even got to your site.
