Showerthought: The diner's new patio slab came out super flat

Had to pour early to beat the heat. Owner already set up tables and it looks like it's always been there.

Pouring early to beat the heat is smart. I bet that made a huge difference in how it set. Is the surface actually level or does it just look flat from a distance?

Heard about it warping if it's not truly level?

Yeah that's real, and willowadams is right to ask if it's truly level or just looks flat. If the base isn't perfectly level when you pour, the whole slab cures under tension. Then when temps change, it pulls itself apart. Seen it happen all the time with cheap jobs where they rushed the foundation prep. Heat makes it worse, like she said, but a bad base is the main culprit. Always check your level twice before the concrete even shows up.
