After 15 years I finally caught my float problem on a garage floor in Phoenix
I was on my knees smoothing out a slab last August when a 20-year veteran finisher walked over and pointed out I'd been overworking my bull float, leaving all the fines on top and making the surface weak, and he showed me the difference in just one pass right there on the job.

Phoenix is brutal for slab work at any time of year, but especially August. Curious if he mentioned the trowel machine timing too, since the heat can make the surface set up way faster than the bottom.

So the guy just casually drops a 15-year knowledge bomb while you're on your knees sweating through August? Talk about perfect timing for a career-defining tip. Guess the only thing heat does faster than concrete is expose a rookie move you've been perfecting for over a decade.
