TIL a client's machine was loaded with pirated stuff. Now I'm stuck in a moral spot.
I was running a scan and found a bunch of cracked software on there. I mean, part of me feels like I should point it out or even refuse service because it's not right. But then, idk, if I make a big deal, I might lose a customer and they might never get their pc fixed. Maybe it's just me, but I can't decide. What would you guys do?

Think about how common this is in real life. Lots of clients have pirated stuff without realizing, and you're not the software police. Fix their computer and let it go, unless you want to lose a customer over nothing.

Losing a customer over nothing" is a big take. But if their whole system gets nuked by malware from a cracked program, that's a real problem you helped ignore.

My buddy had a client whose whole accounting system got locked by ransomware. Traced it back to a cracked tax program they'd been using for years. The fix cost way more than the software ever would have, and they lost a week of work. That's not "nothing," it's a real business risk you're leaving on the table by ignoring it.
