Why does nobody talk about current drift on inshore jobs?

I used to dive this bridge inspection route outside Galveston every spring for 4 years straight. First two years I was fighting current the whole time, burning through air way faster than the plan said. Then last year I started going with the tide schedule instead of the client's preferred time slot. Same bridge, same depth, but my bottom time jumped from 28 minutes to 44 before my reserve kicked in. The contractor finally stopped arguing after they saw the logbook. Has anyone else convinced a supervisor to shift their dive window just based on the tide chart?

Dig right in and celebrate that win with you. Getting a contractor to bend even five minutes is like pulling teeth, so getting them to accept a whole tide shift is a big deal. I bet that logbook was the only thing that finally shut them up, too, because nobody argues with shiny numbers like that. That extra sixteen minutes of bottom time is the kind of proof that makes you want to frame it. Good on you for not just grinding through the fight like the first two years.
