My dive knife cost $12 in 1998, now it's $130 for the same thing

I bought my first dive knife from a shop in Morgan City back in 1998 for twelve bucks. It was a simple fixed blade with a sheath that strapped to my leg and it cut through everything from rope to fishing line without a problem. Last week I went looking for a replacement and the same style knife is going for $130 at the supply house near Fourchon. I get that materials cost more and all, but it feels like the price jumped way faster than my day rate ever did. Has anyone found a decent working knife that doesn't cost a full day's pay?

Laughed at myself last week because I paid more for a knife than I did for my first mask and fins COMBINED back in the day. My cheap fix now is a plain old stainless fishing knife from the bait shop, ten bucks and it cuts line just fine.
