Hot take: I finally put family days on my dive calendar

I always told myself the job had to come first, no matter what... but missing my nephew's first birthday for a pipeline inspection changed my mind. My wife showed me how other divers block off dates for family stuff and still get work done. Now I mark big family events as non-negotiable in my schedule. It felt weird at first, but my home life is way calmer. Honestly, I think it makes me focus better on the dive when I'm down there.

Yeah, Olivia's spot on about how that stuff hits you. Good on you for making that change, it really does help everything else click into place.

Saying it helps everything click into place seems over the top. People deal with work stuff all the time. It's probably not as big a deal as it sounds.

Missing a first birthday for work? Yeah, that'll shake you up quick. Smart move marking those days off now.
