Cut my drysuit on a rusty I-beam in Port Fourchon last Tuesday
Had to patch it with flex tape just to finish the shift, has anyone else had their gear fail at the worst possible spot and time?

Cut my drysuit on a rusty I-beam" - yeah, that's about as perfect a recipe for a bad day as you can get. Flex tape is a classic move though, that stuff holds together anything from a leaking boat to my sanity on a Monday morning. I've had a wetsuit tear right at the crotch seam during a surf session in front of a bunch of tourists, had to waddle out of the water like a crab. At least yours was on the job, so you can probably write it off as a work expense or something.

The crotch waddle story got me. That's the kind of thing that plays on repeat in your head at 3am a week later. At least the drysuit tear was a quick fix, but a wetsuit rip in a high stress spot is a whole different level of awkward. Tourists probably thought you were doing some kind of interpretive dance.
