My grinder died on a Tuesday and I brewed with a hammer the rest of the day
I had one of those weeks where everything coffee related went wrong and it started when my burr grinder just quit mid grind on Tuesday morning. So I grabbed a ziplock bag and a hammer and smashed beans on my counter like a caveman, and the mess was unbelievable. The next day my scale battery died so I guessed my ratios and made 3 cups that tasted like hot dirt water. Then Thursday my local shop in Reno was out of the beans I buy every 2 weeks, so I tried a dark roast that was roasted 5 days ago and it choked my pour over completely. By Saturday I gave up and went back to the hammer. What do you all do when your whole setup craps out at once, do you buy backups or just suffer?
Wondering if it was really as bad as all that or if you just needed an excuse to smash stuff with a hammer lol. Brewing with a hammer for one day sounds fun honestly, doing it twice in a week is a choice. Just order a backup grinder online and call it a day, no need to suffer through dirt water again.
