My French press snob phase ended after a $15 pour-over cone

I spent two years defending my French press as the only real way to brew. Then my buddy in Portland brought over a cheap plastic V60 and walked me through his method. The bloom, the slow spiral pour, the brighter acidity, it hit me right away. I tried it at home for a week and now my press just collects dust on the shelf. Has anyone else flipped camps like this, or am I the only one who was that stubborn?

Portland was the exact same place my pour over conversion happened, and that cheap plastic cone beat my $80 press setup too. Honestly it makes me wonder if the whole snobbery thing was just about the ritual feeling more important than the actual cup.

Nah man, that $80 press wasn't the real competition, the cheap cone wins because it's simpler, not fancier.
