My french press routine went from 10 minutes to 4 after a kitchen scale incident
I used to eyeball my coffee grounds and water every morning, which gave me a brew that was either bitter or weak, no middle ground. Last Tuesday I knocked my bag of beans over and got tired of guessing, so I bought a $15 scale and started weighing 30 grams of coffee to 500 ml of water. Does anyone else find that measuring by weight changed your whole morning cup more than any new grinder or kettle did?
Stop pretending a scale fixes taste that comes down to your beans and water temp. You traded one boring habit for another and now you're timing yourself like it's a math test. A $2 thermometer and a cheaper grinder would do more for your cup than obsessing over two grams.
