Cold brew concentrate changed my mornings, filter and all
I used to think cold brew was just weak iced coffee until I tried making a 1:4 ratio with coarse grounds and let it sit for 18 hours in a mason jar. Straining through a regular mesh sieve left grit, so I bought a $6 nut milk bag and now it pours clean every time. Has anyone else found that skipping the fancy brewers and using simple gear gets better results?

See, I gotta disagree a little. The nut milk bag works fine, but I’ve found the fancy brewers actually solve the real problem, which is consistency. My cheap mesh strainer left sludge no matter how long I let it sit, and the bag clogged halfway through if I poured too fast. A basic $25 cold brew maker with a fine metal filter lets me dump the whole batch without babysitting it, and it comes out clear every single time. Not saying your method is wrong, but “simple gear” gets old when you’re scrubbing grounds out of a cloth bag on day three. Different strokes, but I’ll keep the dedicated setup.
