Took me 3 years to admit coolant mix matters more than I thought
I always just dumped whatever concentrate was cheapest into the tank... until last week when I had to replace a $400 water pump on our Mori Seiki. Shop foreman showed me the pH strips and how off my water was. Has anyone else ignored the basics and paid for it later?

Betcha got the water from a hose spigot instead of using distilled or deionized right? What kind of pH were you seeing before the pump died?

Nah, pH was fine around 7.2. It was a seal leak, not the water.
