Noticed a big shift in surface finish after switching coolant brands 6 months ago
I switched from the cheap stuff to a semi-synthetic coolant in my Haas mill back in March, and my aluminum parts look way better now with way less tool wear. Has anyone else tried a different coolant and saw a real difference in finish quality?

Tbh that thing about the rotten egg smell making you stick with it anyway is kinda how I am with my favorite coffee shop. It's like when you find something that works even though it has a downside you just accept it because the result is worth it. But then something new comes along that works just as good without the bad part and you wonder why you put up with it for so long.

Oh wow, that reminds me of when I tried a different cutting oil on my old Bridgeport... the stuff smelled like rotten eggs mixed with burnt coffee, but my steel parts came out so smooth I almost cried. I stuck with it for three months just for the finish even though the whole shop smelled terrible. Then my sales guy brought in some fancy new stuff that smelled like bubblegum and I switched again...

Bet my Bridgeport has seen more cutting fluids than I've seen haircuts this decade.
