I ignored the spindle load meter for 2 years, then a 0.4 jump saved my tool

We run a 2008 Haas VF-3 at the shop in Toledo, and I always thought the load meter was just a fancy light show. Then one afternoon it spiked to like 0.4 over normal on a finishing pass, and I stopped the machine before a holder full of inserts grenaded. Turns out the drawbar was pulling weak, and that little number caught it. Anyone else trust the load meter more than their gut these days?

Fancy light show" is being generous, mine usually just makes me feel like I'm watching a screensaver. But yeah, I had a spindle start sounding like a blender full of rocks and the meter barely ticked, so now I just assume it's lying to me most days. That 0.4 jump is the load meter finally earning its paycheck, not gonna lie.
