Tried a rain barrel setup in my yard back in April. Leak flooded half my garden.
It was supposed to save water but the spigot gave out after a month and dumped 40 gallons overnight. Anyone else have luck with these things or am I just unlucky with the hardware?

Oh man, that’s rough! My buddy tried a rain barrel last summer and his spigot cracked after a weird warm spell in February-like @price.tara said, it was totally from not draining it before a freeze. He just replaced the whole spigot for like 12 bucks and hasn’t had trouble since.

Your spigot probably froze over winter and cracked. Need to disconnect hoses before the first freeze next time.
