Tried a cheap electric mower and it actually beat my gas one
I always thought electric mowers were weak and just for small lawns. My old gas mower finally died last month, so I grabbed a $200 corded electric one from a hardware store in Akron just to get by. First time I used it, I was done in 20 minutes instead of 40, and the grass looked cleaner. Now I'm thinking why does nobody talk about how much quieter and lighter these things are? Has anyone else switched and noticed a big difference in battery vs corded models?

Boy howdy, you're not wrong about the quiet part. I switched to a corded electric last summer after my gas mower kept flooding on me, and I could actually hear the birds while I was mowing. But here's the thing, I got a little too cocky with the extension cord one time and ran it over, sliced it clean in two. Had to finish the yard with a pair of scissors like a dummy. Now I just make sure to loop the cord over my shoulder every time.

Whoa there, I gotta take the other side on this one. I tried a corded electric mower a few years back and while it was quiet, I got tired of dragging that extension cord around the whole yard and almost took out a flower bed when I forgot about it. Give me a good gas mower any day for the torque and the fact I don't have to worry about where I'm going or tripping over a cord every five minutes.
