TIL my leftover veggies were a bigger climate issue than I realized.
Now I compost all my food scraps instead of tossing them.

Food waste hits home when you see it in other places. I helped at a soup kitchen once and saw how much good food gets thrown out. They had strict rules about when food could be used. We still gave away a lot, but it made me see the problem. It shows how many chances we have to cut down on waste.

Grocery stores throw out fruits and veggies for small bruises. Restaurants toss full pans of food at night. Soup kitchens have strict rules on when to give food. Good food goes in the trash. We need to change how we handle this.

@margaret_white48, our food waste policy of 'when in doubt, throw it out' is just GENIUS!
