Switched from gas to induction last month and I'm sold

I always thought induction stoves were just a gimmick for rich people, but my utility company offered a $200 rebate so I tried it. Boils water in like 2 minutes and my kitchen doesn't get hot anymore. Anyone else make the switch and notice their electric bill went down?

Did the rebate cover most of the cost or was it still pricey after that? I hear install can get complicated if your house wasn't wired for it.

Oh man, did you have a similar headache? Ours was a total nightmare too! The rebate helped a bit, but it was still way more expensive than I expected. We had to get an electrician out to run a new circuit from the panel because our house was older and only had two-prong outlets. That alone added like $400 to the bill before we even touched the charger. And then the rebate paperwork was this whole thing where we had to prove the install was done by a licensed pro and send in receipts. By the time it was all done I think we saved maybe $200 total, which barely covered the electrician's trip fee. Honestly, if your house isn't already wired for a dedicated circuit, it's going to be a bigger project than you'd think.

Start looking into whether your utility company offers a different kind of rebate than the one people usually talk about. Some power companies here in my state have a separate program where they'll actually give you a discount on your monthly bill for charging overnight, not just a one time rebate on the install. I know a guy who ended up saving way more that way over the first year than he ever would have from the install rebate @paulw87. Plus his house was totally not wired for it either, old 1950s wiring and all, and the electrician still got it done in a day without much fuss. The rebate from the state on the install itself was just a headache of paperwork and gave him back maybe $150, but the utility discount added up to almost $300 in the first year just for plugging in after 9pm.
