Picked solar panels over a new HVAC system - here's what happened 6 months later
Last winter my electric bill hit $340 and I knew I had to do something. I was stuck between getting a new high-efficiency furnace for $4,500 or putting 6 solar panels on my roof for $5,200. I went with the solar since my roof faces south and gets good sun. So far I've cut my bill by about $90 a month, but my old furnace is still chugging along. Has anyone else made a similar call between two big home upgrades for climate reasons?

Totally agree with you, I did the same thing last year (solar over a new AC) and don't regret it one bit.

and it's funny you mention that, because it's part of a bigger thing I've been noticing lately. We're all so used to just fixing the immediate problem, like buying a new AC or fixing a leaky roof, but we never stop to think about why it broke in the first place. Solar is a great example, because it tackles the root cause, instead of just slapping a bandaid on the electric bill every month. It's the same with a lot of stuff in life, from fixing a car to even how we handle our health. We just gotta get better at looking at the big picture instead of just patching things up as they fall apart.
