Found a solar panel setup at a garage sale that paid for itself in 8 months

Last spring I picked up two 100 watt panels and a charge controller for $60 from some guy in Phoenix who was moving. Hooked them up to my shed to run a few lights and charge my phone and tools. My electric bill dropped about $8 a month on average, plus I stopped running extension cords across the yard. It took about 8 months to make back what I spent, and now it's just free power. If you see solar gear at a thrift store or garage sale, it's worth grabbing. Anyone else find good deals on used renewable gear?

That's a SOLID return on a garage sale find.

Hold on now. Everybody in here is acting like this is some life changing thing. 8 months to make back $60 is fine I guess, but you saved $8 a month. That is barely a rounding error on most people's electric bill. @the_cole called it a solid return, but I would not call it serious money. It's just a little side project that pays for itself eventually, not something to get too worked up about.
