Warning: My 20-year-old Hobart mixer finally gave out during a 200-roll holiday order
Everyone says to just buy a new one, but I'm getting the motor rebuilt in Cincinnati (it's cheaper than you'd think). Has anyone else kept an old workhorse running past its supposed expiration date?

Isn't it wild how fixing something can feel more satisfying than just buying new?

Man, that's the way to do it. My buddy had his grandma's old KitchenAid that finally seized up, and he found a retired appliance repair guy who got it running like new for less than half a new one. It's cool to see that mindset, like @carr.brooke said. Some of these old machines are just built different, and it's worth putting in the work to keep them around.

Honestly, I used to be the type to just replace stuff. But getting my old stand mixer fixed last year totally changed my mind. It feels good to keep it going.
