I finally tried the free community center gym and it's not bad at all

My buddy in Tucson kept telling me about the rec center off 22nd Street, so I went last Saturday thinking it would be a joke. For $0 a year if you live in the neighborhood, they have old but working treadmills, a squat rack, and a basketball court that's rarely full. I expected to see broken equipment and weird smells, but honestly it's cleaner than the $40 a month place I quit in January. The hours are shorter, closing at 8 on weekdays, but there's never a line for anything. Anyone else sleeping on their local rec center just because it doesn't have a smoothie bar?

Drove past that place for years thinking it was just for old folks, then walked in and saw a teenager deadlifting more than my car.
