My sister said my rice and beans tasted like a punishment, so I changed ONE spice and now my $0.60 dinners are good
I was making the same pot of black beans and rice every Sunday to save cash, and my sister finally told me straight up it tasted like "a sad burrito bowl with no future." Turns out I was dumping in cumin at the start instead of toasting it in the dry pan for 30 seconds first, and that alone fixed the whole pot. Anyone else have a cheap staple that only needed one small tweak to stop being depressing?
