Still thinking about that builder in Phoenix who laughed at my seam job
I was doing a bedroom in a new build outside Phoenix last month and this builder walked in, looked at my seam, and just laughed. Said he could see it from the door and I needed to "learn how to use a seam roller." Thing is, I had already rolled it three times and the backing just wasn't flattening out. Has anyone else dealt with builders who act like they know better when they've never even knelt on a pad?

Man that reminds me of a job I had up in Flagstaff where this homeowner kept walking behind me while I was seaming, like he was waiting for me to mess up. Talked about his cousin who did carpet for 20 years and could "eat a seam for breakfast." I wanted to say well your cousin ain't here right now is he. Some of these builders think because they've seen a few installs that makes them experts. Had one guy tell me I was using too much glue on a pad once. Sir that glue is what keeps your pad from turning into a slip n slide the first time someone spills a drink. The Phoenix heat does weird things to backing too, I've had seams that looked perfect till the AC kicked on and then they'd pucker up like nobody's business.
