Pro tip: marking the subfloor with chalk lines saved me on a staircase job in Tulsa
I kept getting wavy seams on upstairs hallways because I was eyeballing the layout from the doorway. Started snapping a chalk line square off the longest wall before I cut anything, and the last two jobs in Tulsa went down with zero restretches. Does anyone else snap lines first or do you just trust your eye?
Aw man, hate to be that guy but chalk lines alone won't stop wavy seams. The lines keep your rows straight, but the waves usually come from the carpet not being stretched tight or from cutting it short. Still a good habit though, and hey, zero restretches in Tulsa is zero restretches.
