I always cut my own tack strips until a job in Tempe went sideways

The builder wanted me to use their pre-cut strips, which I thought was a waste of time and money. After a full day of fighting their warped pieces, I finally gave in and cut my own fresh ones, and the whole room went down in under two hours. Do you ever push back on a client's supplied materials, or just roll with it to keep the peace?

Been there. Sometimes you gotta just use the right tool for the job, even if it means ignoring their "help." Saves everyone a headache in the long run.

But what if ignoring them makes the whole team thing worse later? Like, they just get more in the way because they feel left out.

Been in that exact spot. You gotta push back when their stuff is junk, like @jake189 said about using the right tool. Fighting bad materials just burns your time and their money. Sometimes keeping the peace means a worse job. I'll use their supplies if it's fine, but I'm not ruining my work over it. A quick talk upfront saves a full day of trouble.
