Hit 2,000 carpet seams and finally stopped counting

Last Thursday I finished a big office job in Des Moines and the trim number rolled past 2,000 seams since I started tracking in my notebook back in 2021. That number surprised me because I always thought I was slow, but the math showed I average about 14 seams per day, which is way more than I guessed. It mattered because it proved my measuring and cutting habits were solid, not lucky. The real kicker was seeing that my seam failure rate stayed under 1%, which is the number I actually care about now. Anyone else keep a manual log of their seams or do you just let the jobs blur together?

My notebook has 47 pages of tallies and honestly I think my handwriting is the only thing holding that thing together at this point. 2,000 seams is like laying carpet from Chicago to the moon if you stretch it out, but hey, at least you know where every single one of them lives. I stopped tracking mine after about 300 because I realized I was spending more time flipping pages than actually cutting carpet. Your under 1% failure rate is awesome, but my real question is how many pencils did you burn through keeping that log going? Mine broke three before I gave up and just started using a phone app that I also abandoned by week two.
