Found a trick for tight doorframes without a knee kicker
Was struggling last week with a bedroom in an old house in Chicago where the doorframe had zero clearance for my knee kicker. Tried using a scrap piece of 2x4 and a rubber mallet to push the carpet into the tack strip and it worked way better than I expected. Anyone else got a weird tool substitution that saved you on a job?

That rubber mallet trick is solid, I actually took it a step further last month on a job. Grabbed a scrap of 1x4 pine and cut it to the exact width of the doorframe, then wrapped the end in duct tape so it wouldn't scuff the baseboard. Used that as a long lever to push the carpet into the tack strip while smacking it with the mallet, saved my knees and wrists big time. Works perfect for those old Chicago bungalows where the frames are all uneven and off-kilter. Next time you're stuck, try a flat pry bar with a piece of cardboard taped to the end, lets you get real precise on the corners where the rubber mallet just bounces off.
