Vent: brand new table saw blade died halfway through kitchen job
Picked up a 40 tooth combo blade two weeks ago at the supply house in Tacoma, paid $68 for it. Yesterday I'm cutting 3/4 maple plywood for a client's upper cabinets, and on the fifth rip it starts screaming and throwing sparks. Pulled the blade out, two carbide tips are just gone, like they never existed. Called the supplier and they said no warranty on wear items, which is garbage because this thing barely saw 20 minutes of use. I ended up finishing the job with my old rusty blade and the edges came out rough, had to sand every single piece for an extra hour. Is this just the new norm with cheaper blades, or did I get a bad batch? Anyone had luck getting a replacement out of these guys?
Heard a guy at the shop last week complaining about the exact same thing with those cheaper combo blades, said his lost two teeth on some melamine. Sounds like the carbide quality on those budget ones has gone way downhill, they just cant handle the glue in plywood. You might have gotten a bad one, but honestly at that price point I would just eat the $68 and buy a name brand next time.
